Gouda Squash
Gouda Squash
Cucurbita moschata
There are many benefits to growing this tasty pumpkin! Actually a butternut squash, this beauty makes a perfect stand-in for your regular pie pumpkins, both for its smoother texture as pie filling and its hard to surpass curb appeal on the dinning room table. And, the vines are much less prone to powdery mildew than many pumpkins and squash, nor do they tend to attract squash borer beetles. Bred by Michael Mazourek at Cornell University as an improved and smaller version of 'Long Island Cheese', Gouda also excels in the winter storage department - with some fruits lasting us until Fall the following year. A standout, all around! 110 days to maturity.
