Phaseolus vulgaris
An heirloom variety from the Ozarks, this pole bean produces light purple flowers, dark leaves, and deep purple, tender beans that grow to be 5" long. The purple-tinged plants will climb to 6-8' tall and when picked regularly will continue to pump out smooth and tasty pods. These are in the top three beans here at the farm; they turn green when cooked and develop a nutty flavour that is unparalleled in any other bean we've tasted up to now. Delicious. 70 days to maturity.
