Raphanus sativus
A rare variety, these round-shaped roots have a beautifully rustic yellow-coloured skin with a crisp white flesh that is slow to go pithy. The flavour is mild to medium in pungency without being overly peppery. The roots don't seem to be very sensitive to bursting and the green tops withstand the pulling of harvest at their base. We were smitten pulling these roots from the garden. Thanks to our friend Heron Breen for putting us onto this variety - we're glad to offer it to a wider audience of gardeners. Our seed was grown by Evalisa at Root Cellar Gardens in Thunder Bay, ON. 35 days to maturity.
