An all around favourite romaine with dark green leaves forming dense heads with great resistance to all kinds of diseases. It offers a sweet lettuce flavour and can grow well into the summer heat without turning bitter or bolting. What else can you ask for in a Romaine? 65 days to maturity. Whether seeding into a pot or directly into the garden, be sure not to bury the lettuce seed too deep. Cover the seed lightly; approximately 1/8" with loose soil and pat down gently. Keep the soil consistently moist until the plants emerge. Being heat sensitive, lettuce will usually germinate best below 24 degrees Celsius.
