Daucus carota
This heirloom, dating back to the late 1800's France, has withstood the test of time as an all-around great carrot. Wide shoulders with tapered roots, Red Cored shines even in shallow, heavy clay soils. A variety with sweet, old fashioned carrot flavour and a fine-grained texture with the characteristic red core, growing to about 6" in length. A great variety for soups, freezing, canning and also stores very well in the fridge.
